viac o Kaštieľ Kubínyi

For several centuries, the building belonged to the Kubínyi family, one of the most important landowner families in Orava. Jozef Kubínyi and his wife Amalia De Adda took care of the significant transformation of the then Renaissance mansion into a mansion during the Baroque reconstruction in the 18th century. They enlarged the manor and enriched it with typical onion towers, which still give the building an unmistakable character.

The entire area underwent a complex and very precise reconstruction, the goal of which was to bring new life to this exceptional place. The awarding of the FÉNIX prize by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic for the exemplary restoration and preservation of a national cultural monument is proof of the successful reconstruction.

History

The history of the manor goes back to the first half of the 17th century, when Beňadik Kubínyi had a Renaissance manor with a large park built on the site of an older building. However, the typical onion towers were added only during the Baroque reconstruction, which took place in the middle of the 18th century. In the 19th century, it was modified in a classicist style, and the coats of arms of the Kubínyi family and de Adda were added to the facade of the mansion.

During a stormy period, in the first half of the 20th century, the manor house was taken from the Kubín family and belonged to the cooperative. It was only in 1989 that the Kubíny family managed to get it back into their possession, but due to a lack of funds to maintain the mansion, they were forced to sell it. Since then it fell into disrepair under the rule of several owners, until in 2010 it was bought in a poor condition by the current owners.
